Double Bass Azola EUB owners sound-off!

Ok the Azola mega thread hasn’t been posted in in over 14 months so needless to say the excitement about these amazing instruments has wained in recent years. I just acquired my third Azola and hope to have it later this week. They don’t pop up for sale that often so I assume those that have them, hang onto them.

So do you have one or more? What kind? Pics appreciated. I’ll post pics of my new Azola when it arrives.

I've got a Bugbass 2 and a Lightning Bug. I found the lightning bug last year after looking for years and years for one for a decent price. I will second that it seems like everybody who has these holds on to him. Although I think the bug bass sounds a little better than the lightning bug, I probably will end up selling it. It seems to me that for those who willing to accept that an electric upright is not going to sound just like a double bass, these are about as good as it gets with these types of instruments.

Brought out the bug bass instead of the upright and everyone loved it. Better live, more consistent and even

I had the exact same bass.... mine was an “Ampeg” Baby Bass reissue made by Steve Azola. It was a fantastic bass. It is the one bass I regret selling more than any other.

I've gotten that same feedback from listeners. Mine is a solid body MiniBass, I haven't gigged it for at least 5 years and am thinking of selling it. Most BLs want the look of the real thing.

That’s what mine is. Scroll says “Ampeg”, but it’s made by Azola. Got it at Rudy’s. I do love playing it.

Well, I'm having about as much fine as the day I got my Bongo 5h, maybe more...
I've found some youtube channels for double bass that are giving me pointers, and blisters, and smiles...
Today, I wasn't getting sound out of it. I'm afraid that I may have a bad connection and it looks like the first step is taking it apart.

Although I think the bug bass sounds a little better than the lightning bug, I probably will end up selling it.
