B Hefner??

Has anyone ever dealt with B Hefner. I'm going to build a Tele bass and I'm in the market for an ash body and a decent neck. I like B Hefner's one piece ash Tele bass body, but their necks seem a bit steep in price when you add frets and have them leveled and polished. It's another $85 to have the neck finished in lacquer or poly. I'm debating getting an unfinished fretted neck and doing wipe on poly or Tru-Oil myself to cut costs. If I don't go with B Hefner, I'll most likely go with Warmoth. Any opinions?
