Any idea which short scale 5-strings flats have the least boomy B string? I guess that would be out of Labella DTF, Labella Nylon (close enough to flat for me), DR Legend (will fit my bass), and Dunlop (which I'm currently using - pretty boomy). My Cazpar came with Maruszczyk flats but the B string was very thumpy while no other strings were thumpy.
I can tell you that the FL’s and Dunlops have similar tension & feel (no experience with tapes). I can also say that the Dunlops are slightly brighter and the B-string speaks and intonates a bit more clearly than the FL 128 tapered B (at least the one I have).
I think “boom” maybe comes along with short scale B-strings. It needs to be addressed elsewhere in the signal chain.
