B string for a 34"

Just wondering what gauge B string you folks use for your 34" scale?

I use a .118 low B on my 34" scale 6 & 7 string basses.... my 5 has heavy flats though.

.135 ia pretty good if you do not have a dedicated flat bass. Otherwise about .130 is plenty for a B IMO.

.130 here. I'd say that .125 is plenty tight enough for most folks on my bass, but I tend to like my string tension just a tad higher than normal.

fwiw - a .120 has 28.5 pounds of tension, a .125 has 31.5, a .130 has 34.5 and a .135 has just over 36 pounds.

By comparison a .080 A string has 42 pounds.

My preference is to have around a 10 pound shift in tension from loosest to tightest. And while I find that I still prefer the feel of looser strings on bottom, I also prefer no more than a two to three pound difference from one adjacent string to the next.

With there being the .128s, the two .118s, and that one guy with the 115, I think I should have added some more options to the pole.

.135 on my fretted basses, .132 on my fretless. If D'Addario made a .135 Chromes string, I'd be using that.

Only recently got my first 5-string. Came with a .125 -- but I'm much happier now I've re-strung with a .130 on the B. Tighter, punchier.

Is there a big tightness difference between a .130 and a .125? Cause I've been considering switching over to a .125 B.

im using a .125 DR Highbeam on my TBC

i'm a stickler for tight B strings, and it does the job handsomely. It doesnt feel overly loose OR overly tight. It blends well with the other strings
