I built this for myself for live direct purposes. I don't need to reamp an amped signal--I use in-ears to monitor my DI signal.

I'll look into the possibility of a thru jack; it makes sense to have one.

Nicely done.

You are absolutely correct that a well executed pcb layout can be lower noise than point to point wired. They will also perform the same unit to unit, and be less likely to oscillate.

What do you say to all the PCB haters that are sure it sucks because it's not point to point? ;)

I hear ya' :) I still have a desktop, version and also a prototype with the Baxendale, stack. Much like the OP's design, they do not have the big iron, in the output section.

We have the Monique, available to us. But that is a whole nother' level of awesomeness. :D

What I'm pining for, is a simple 6SL7 circuit + Bax, married to some big iron, in the output section.

Big iron is only needed for class A designs, or for output of a tube power amp. Since the B15N preamp is neither of these things, the size of the iron can be much smaller and give the same quality iron transformer sound. This transformer is designed for this purpose.

I've confirmed with the case manufacturer that I can replace the one large input to two standard sized inputs (switchcraft open frame style). They would be used for input/thru operation.

As Scotch, mentioned and I concur... the noise floor of the True-Voices, while great for live apps, were somewhat of a challenge to tame in the studio.

Although, the design you are presenting here does look extremely interesting. With the DC, heaters etc; and the cinemag, if you have tamed that beastly 6SL7, without the use of big iron, Bravo!
