Something more satin probably, just because of less maintenance. The back is almost done, and I'll finish the front once I finish the pickup and neck routes. Are you going for a mirror polish, or more satin? I mirror polished an aluminum pedal box, but it oxidized pretty quick.
I usually screw the template to the bridge and pickup holes but on this there is a floating bridge and only the two small pickup holes so I clamped it and double stick taped it. In the future I'll mill that section out before I weld the top on and just use the laser cut top.Seems a a day doesn't go by here at LC without someone having a problem with double stick for template work.
I haven't trusted it since the mid 80s. Maybe because when it fails it costs money in the custom furniture business. That's why most of my routing is done on blanks with templates attached to future offall or places that will be covered (bridges, pickup routes, etc).
I've resorted to tape for template work once, on a mod to an already finished instrument. Made me very nervous.![]()
Hey now I'm out of whiskey and that there was a delicious hand crafted Hibiscus Aviation, made with home made Hibiscus Liqueur, fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice, and small batch local Gin.Reported for inappropriate use of Glencairn glass.

I haven't looked that hard for a new router, for the most part all my routing is done for a while, and this one I'll file and sand it to fit once I weld in the patch. I just got a new job and I won't get my first pay check for another two weeks so money is a little tight for the time being but it's a $5/hr raise so I can't complain that much. How's the router search going? I need molten updates!
I never learned welding, but if I can ever swing it I'd love to work exclusively in aluminum. I understand that's not a good starting place, but a dork can dream.
