the game is experiencing a revival.

outside of music and football (world not US version), it's my greatest passion.

so much more interesting than chess and poker.

Used to was. With my ex, though. Always enjoyed the game. She got mad because I was better at it. Played "Russian" style? Is that even a thing? Basically start with an empty board and have to fight even to get on the board...

I enjoy backgammon! Moreso when I lived in, and when I visit Greece. We don't use the doubling cube.

Huge fan. Whole family plays. My wife is very good...and very competitive! I have a few beautiful Middle Eastern boards with hand-carved pieces and very intricate woodwork inlays that I've inherited which are awesome too......

We used to require a Double (or a 1,2) before you could even move your pieces on to the board - sometimes someone would enter, move all around the board, and exit, before the other player even got any of their pieces on the board!..

Played alot of Acey-Deucey when I first joined the Navy in '76. Didn't see it around alot by the time I retired in '96. Thoroughly enjoyed that game. Never did learn the rules of actual backgammon, but I bet I'd have enjoyed it, too.

I have a few beautiful Middle Eastern boards with hand-carved pieces and very intricate woodwork inlays that I've inherited which are awesome too......

Oh, yeah. Saw beautiful boards/pieces in some of the souks of different Mid-East countries. You're right, the intricacies are insane. That level of detailing spills over in much of Middle-East handiwork from small boxes to their architecture.

Unfortunately, I wasn't playing yet, so didn't pick up any boards (I was a teen). Very cool you have more than one.
