Backup bass head

Hi all,

I'm would like to find a backup bass head. I hope I will never have to use it so I don't want to spend much on it. Less than $300. And it must be small and easy to stuff in a bag.

I was looking at the TC BQ500 but ran across too many posts dissing it.

I have 2 rigs, an Ampeg pf500 with the Portaflex 2x10 hf cab, and a Markbass Jeff Berlin cmd151 combo and a second NY151 cab.

Interested in any ideas and recommendations you have.

Thanks!
I have two heads that are virtually interchangeable for me. I carry both to gigs. One is an old SVTIII Pro, which I bought new in 90s. Love the tone. The other is a Hartke LH1000 that is newer. Yes, they are heavy......but, hey!!! I’m a bass player. I rotate them according to my mood.

I plugged in the Gnome and I can safely say...."Holy, Moly, this thing cranks!"

I suspected the wattage rating was probably over stated, and who knows, maybe it is, but I can attest that it is easily capable of gig volumes. Its also quite a bit heavier that I expected it to be.
Too bad there isn't much coverage on these bad boys. The only real cons the Gnomes have IMO is lack of audio in (I don't use it anyway) and lack of speakon connector.

I had exactly the same reaction. I have yet to even turn it up past like 10 o'clock.

Acoustic stuff is solid and very reasonably priced. 299 for this head. Reviews included.
Acoustic B300HD 300W Bass Amp Head | Guitar Center
I bought one of these used at Guitar Center for $175 and it sounds great. I have it paired with an Ampeg B410HLF cab..and a Catalinbread SFT preamp pedal and EHX Big green russian muff and Behringer sf300 super fuzz and it's great for stoner/doom metal!!!
