Heres the 90* scraper i had to make (basically a sharpened square). i tried hand sand the taper to be 100* straight, but accidentally made the sides not square to the bottom, so i got it closer with this. lesson learned: make router templates for the neck taper, and screw them to the neck (before fingerboard, obviously)

I got the open head plan from Matt Harris, and changed the top of it. i will try to get a better pic of it.

Did a round-over on the back will hand carve later. Also got the transition glue on. its walnut cherry walnut.. hopefuly i can route and glue the neck this week.

Better be carefull, lol I've done some woodwork barefoot and I regretted it SO MUCH

Awesome bass though, the headstock is truely unique to me, I love it

the neck is glued in, and transition carved. neck i rough carve the neck, chamber the body, glue the top on and contour.

Okay, here is where the build currently stands. the neck is glued in, and the transition of the body and neck is carved. J.D. And i are working out the details before i do much else (things like pup cover, f-holes, ect.)

got to love angle grinders! (if you don't have one, get one. best $40 you'll spend) i did the bulk of the work in like 15 minutes, and then only had to do some minor hand sanding.

Still in the woodwork. body is chambered out, and the neck area is cut away from the top centerpiece, although i need to clean that up a bit. also started a bridge tray. Next to do is fix the neck cutout, and route for the control cavity.

NECK -
The thick neck gave me a nightmare of a time trying to carve it, esp. around the neck transition. I decided to set up some guides and a router to bring it to a manageable thickness to carve. Right now, it is maybe a little thicker than 3/4". I need to recarve the neck-body transition, and the neck-head transition.

MELTED TOP -
Finally got the right tools to get the top underway. I jigsawed the waste off, and cleaned up the curves with a freshly bought template bit (cut like butter), and mated curve templates. I only matched up the lower curve, so far, though. I screwed the templates to the top pieces, in the waste areas, to make sure it wouldn't move on me.
