Bad Day

Ugh, man that's rough, I feel for you. If I absolutely had to I'd sell a lot of things to keep food on the table, but this would be my last possession to go.

Ive had to sell alot over the years. I still kick myself over the Peavey T-40 in custom teal green, and my 1976 Modded P-Bass (it had a JPJ setup) that I nicknamed "Frank". The only thing that makes me feel better about "Frank" is that I know he went to a good home (I sold it to a friend of mine).

Currently, my baby is my Peavey Cirrus 4 in Clarro Walnut. I will never let that one go.

I've learned to never say never. A couple of years ago I needed cash to pay for surgery for my dog. Had to sell a bicycle, a guitar, a couple of basses and this:

I haven't missed the bike, guitar or basses, but I know I will never replace the limited Moog Taurus III pedals.

I had wanted Taurus pedals for years and was over the moon when I finally bought them. I NEVER thought I would sell them, but flesh and blood will ALWAYS come before wood, metal and plastic.

Sorry to hear you had to sell it. :(

Hope things turn around for you and you can get it back.

For me, there is only one bass I would not sell: '76 Mustang given to me by my father - it was my first bass. I don't really want to sell any of the others I have but would do so if the situation required it.

2011 MIA Jazz Deluxe which was purchased new in February 2012. The bass sounded great in active mode but there were some songs where I wanted a passive tone and when I switch the bass to passive, the output level dropped dramatically. It was much less than my passive basses which obviously caused problems at gigs. I modified it by removing the stock active circuitry and pickups and setting up strictly passive and installing a set of Lindy Fralin, over wound 8% to get more mids and lows while still retaining much of the highs. I also replaced the stock black pickguard with white pearl. I love the way it looks, plays and sounds. The reason I will never sell it is that the bass was a Valentine's Day gift from my wife. She also bought the pickups and pickguard as birthday gifts later that same year.

How about one I thought I'd never let go. Sold it here in the TB classifieds. Told myself that I didn't really need it because my focus had been turning away from gigging and gear at the time. Sold some bass cabs around that time, as well. Truth was I needed the money to help pay the mortgage that month...or was it property taxes? One or the other. Bad day, sad day. At least it went to a fellow TBer.

I would never sell my red Fender PJBS as my mom and dad bought it for me when I was 12, or my Alembic as I bought it for myself on my 18th birthday and have played 1000s of shows with it... Neither instrument is in very clean condition of finish, so a sale would not net anything close to thier real value.
Anything else in my collection of junk.... Sure.

The only one I regret getting rid of was my early 90's boner Jazz. I parted it out but kept the body to refinish. Years later when I was going to start the project I learned on TB that it was a 21 fret and my plan changed. I ended up selling the body for a few hundred bucks. Wish I would have kept it in good shape, but I was an idiot as a teenager.

Sometimes you (we) just got to do what's needs to be done!! :( not by choice of course!!
