bad pickguard

i'm not sure if this is the right forum to post, but here goes..
i've wanted a black pickguard for my highway 1 p bass for a while now, so i ordered one from choppers music in edmonton. they didn't specify what p bass model(s) it fit when i bought it - it doesn't fit. a few things don't line up, the slot for the neck especially, it's not wide enough.
is there an easy/safe/easy way to cut a 3-ply pickguard?

I got one from choppers awhile back, I remember having to sand the neck-slot out a bit on the PG to make it fit.

a band saw maybe? One with a thin blade. If you have access to one.

I would definately avoid doing it by hand.. Dont play with scissors.

If you have a dremel or rotary tool you could use the sanding attachment on that... but be careful! it's easy to end up with an uneven line... I wouldn't try this if you're not used to using tools like that.

I know it's a pain in the ass to return it but...it doesn't fit? ***? Refund!

It's not like a black P pickguard is a rare item, surely someone makes one that actually fits...

hmm, always been wondering how much extra it would be to get a left handed pickguard?

i've found that razor blades worth for just about everything.
infact i cut a pot hole through a 3ply guard today.
