Baer Amplification Megathread!

Last night, I used my Single Baer ML112 'Horizontal' at a gig for the first time. Smooth Jazz Sax player Neamen Lyles sat in for the gig. He was very complimentary. ..and he plays with guys like Brian Bromberg (to which my skills hold absolutely NO CANDLE to!) I only share that because he has heard some of the BEST. My playing skills are nowhere near that level. But my tone? It IS!

I always like to say; I make up for lack of talent, chops and skills with great tone and nice looking gear!

To my other point, the Baer ML112 sat nicely in the mix as a single cab in its 'horizontal' position. It was delightful. I gigged with the Baer ML112 Cab on my rolling platform that has four large casters. So that raised it up off the ground about 4". Sounded great!

I MUCH preferred the ML112 horizontally. Lows were better and the mids not so prominent.

Im pondering getting an ML212. I'd love to know how it or a pair of ML112 cabs would stack up to a few of these cabs. Bergantino NV610, NV412, AE410. I just really need a lighter cab but, it still has to put out the volume. No offense to some of you guys but, no 1x12 cab is a loud rig. Im usually pushing what a really good 4x10 can handle but, never need more than my nv610.

I love the solid lowmid punch of the nv610 and the fact that is has no low end mush that floats around the room. It just is alittle dark and too heavy.

The Ae410 is not nearly as punchy in the lowmids and has more true low end than the nv610 and is light but, I just don't think it has the same type of growl that the nv has. I actually don't need anywhere near the low end that the AE410 puts out.

The nv412 is just a great cab. Maybe alittle blatty in the upper mids but, has all the lows I would ever use and maybe more, could be just alittle brighter on the very top end. Even heavier than the nv610.

I really don't care for the form factor of the ML212 but, it is still 35lbs lighter than my nv610 so, I could probably live with it.

1) I agree, no 112 is "a loud rig," especially if your benchmark is a 610 or 412.

2) I've not played an ML212, but I do have 2xML112. And I still think expecting 2x112 of ---any sort--- to match or best 610 or 412 is asking a lot.

I've auditioned the NV610, and didn't like it. Too big, too heavy, no horn. I used the AE410 for a while. I've not touched the NV412: too big, too heavy, not going there.

Thinking any 212 cab is going to match or best that is probably wrong thinking, IMO.

Now, ML212+ML112; that might match/best the NV412.
Or, 3xML112; which is a rig I'm considering, once the Valkyrie comes out.

With my MBFusion, I put the front feet on the handle, or, bring a foam block to set the head on.
Or grab a bar towel or something.

OK, that raises my one and only design gripe - when the ML cab is horizontal, my Streamliner won't sit flat on its feet. The handle is too high, hits the bottom of the amp. Anybody solve this one?

Streamliner's too big to sit on its front paws; will have to look into foam block or something like that.....seems clumsy though. I had this situation before with a cab and moved the handle to the side of the cab, but that wont work with the ML.
