Baer Amplification Megathread!

Quite a change for the previous gig. Outdoors, concrete stage and a little rain for good measure. Good thing the drivers are water resistant!

Tomorrow night I'll be playing inside a church that has boom with a capital "B" and defines natural cathedral reverb. Then Wed at a club where the sound guy loves to drench the vocals. I actually don't give him a feed, and we only mic the kick, sax and vox. Then Thu at a restaurant much like last night. Every one of those is a different lineup with different bands.

At least it doesn't get boring :D

I continue to be impressed each time I gig the ML112. Full and punchy with a nice upper mid articulation that cuts thru nicely.

Played a 200 seat room with PA support. 5 pc band with 2 guitars, keys, and drummer. Streamliner 900 and ML112 were killer.

My favorite small cab with the Streamliner, period. It is voiced just perfectly for that 'big all tube' like tone that the Streamliner puts out. Great combination of the tighter, more mid present tone of a vintage sealed cab, along with a more articulate top end that does not depend on a tweeter. Just perfect. I bet that Lakland just KILLS throug that rig..... round, warm, punchy, with that wonderful organic top end of those pickups coming out of the Streamliner and that Faital mid driver. Smokin'!

Funny, but even though we build these cabs, it still strikes me as almost comical that these tiny rigs can hang on their own at the gig. I guess my brain is still used to seeing bass players with 215's, 412's, or the old 410 sitting on top a 115 cab. Just amazes me that technology is allowing players to do a gig with a setup this small and light. And if all this wasn't mind blowing enough, apparently you can now get wings for only 50¢. It's a good time to be the bass player, my friends!

Thanks. The Lakland does sound great. I also like the Stingray thru the Baer. I can get that Music Man ping without having to deal with the gank I fight in most tweeter loaded cabs. Very smooth and sweet up top especially with the Streamliner.

Great time to be a bass player, that's for sure.

Have any of you gear heads had the chance to hook up a nice all tube head to these bad boys yet?

Yes. I posted on this a while back. I tried a variety of tube heads with the ML-112s, and they loved it! My Pignose B-100v was the surprise hit. That's a pretty good sounding head, but it can be a tad on the thinner side. Not so with the Baer's. That was a very kick-butt, very giggable combo.

That's encouraging, I have been toying with the idea of buying an EBS T90 for a while which is similar in power output to the pignose, did you feel it had enough guts or would you be looking towards something with more power like the orange ad200 or even aTraynor YBA 200? I like the idea of a small tube head that I can drive to subtle breakup without making my ears bleed!

The ML-112's can handle higher wattage tube heads, IME/IMHO, but they also seem to make the most of lower output tube heads. I would expect that the T90 would work quite well, but I'd probably want the AD200 or YBA200 for gigs without PA support.
