Double Bass Baer ML112 Cab

Does anyone have experience of this cab? I see it’s USA made and has a twelve and a six speakers. Sometimes I need 12” on bigger gigs and perhaps the 6” horn will bring out the mid range. I don’t care for tweeters.

I had a pair, when I moved on from them the band leader demanded I get another pair.
They seem very loud and the peak in the upper midsized that helps it cut through.
One will cover even loud outdoor gigs with enough watts.
Up close they sound obnoxious to me, but once you get 8 feet away the fit is the mix well.
They don't feel bottom heavy to me, but again the BL feels like they have a very solid fundamental.
They work as a doubler cab very well, but they are a little bigger in size than some other cabs.
It is hard to carry and upright and one of the cabs at the same time.
While no cab is perfect, I have liked these as much as anything else.

I have a good amount of experience with these cabs. The ML112 can get quite loud without any breakup. BUT! What I love about these boxes is its the (not small) best box I've ever used for quiet gigs on either upright or electric. I think the secret is the 6" mid speaker instead of a horn. First time I used it on a gig that was very quiet for most of the gig until I needed it much louder on the last set. I knew it would be fine loud. It likes loud. But at very low levels the 6" speaker spoke and punched really well. The 12" wasn't being pushed much, so it didn't give much punch, but it didn't need to because of the 6" driver. It just added a nice, full low end at low volume. Great doubling box. High quality parts throughout. Worth the price. Works well with my Acoustic Image Focus R2 III, Markbass heads, and even my old Eden WT400.

I had a pair of them at one point for a few yrs (Jones64 bought them from me!) and they are great cabinets. Very well made, but I wanted to move in a "lighter and easier to carry" direction. I don't know how feasible it would be for you in the UK, but my favorite cabinets are RevSound (link below). Made in USA, small company, very high quality and extremely good value and lightweight. I have a RevSound 210 (no tweeter) that is a fantastic cab for loud gigs. They make a 112 also that is very highly thought of. Both are under 30 lbs and easy to carry. Not sure if they could be shipped to you. Have you looked at Barefaced cabs? UK made I believe and also very highly regarded.

Thanks very much for you responses, guys. Obviously you have practical experience of this cab and I find this very helpful. I was attracted by the 6” driver which seems to provide a sweet sound from the bass. Unfortunately the weight, at 37 pounds may be just a bit too much for me as I like to limit my lift to 30 pounds top whack.
bherman, I can’t seem to get RevSound in UK but I have a Barefaced Super Midget on a pole for louder gigs. It works very well but the tweeter is redundant.

Roger, RevSound cabs are only available directly from the builder. You might try emailing David from his website, perhaps he’s shipped some cabs overseas before.
