Baked beans

I used to make "poor man's chili" when I was at college - tin of baked beans (the British kind, in tomato sauce, not the US kind in that weird molasses/BBQ sauce stuff), throw some chopped-up cheap hot dog sausages in, add Tabasco to taste, and serve over rice. Delicious.

My other student food of choice was the "Pizza Breville" (a couple of spoonfuls of cheap tinned Bolognese sauce with a slice of processed "rubber" cheese, between two slices of bread and toasted in a Breville (toasted sandwich maker). I've had real pizza that tasted worse. :)

you cannot beat cheesy beans on toast!
just put them in a pan,and grate as much or as little cheese that you want.

You're doing it wrong!

Put the beans on the toast, then slice up some cheddar, lay the cheddar on top of the beans, and then stick it under the grill for a couple of minutes until the cheese starts to melt. The cheese seals the beans onto the bread. It's amazing. You probably want to give it a couple of minutes to cool down before you eat it though. It will be hotter than the sun.
