Double Bass Balanced pickup

Hello everyone,
I am currently using the Bass Max pickup, that on my instrument, tends to emphasize the E and A strings while greatly diminishes G.
I'm trying to replace the Bass Max with a pick up more 'balanced and I was thinking of installing a Realist ... (I was chosing it for budget reasons and simplicity 'installation) but I am afraid of falling into the same problems I have with Max Bass.
Please could you give me an opinion?

You could have a similar "out of balance" problem with a Realist too (I did). This could be due to setup, your amp and eq, PU installation, etc. Some amps emphasize or de-emphasize certain frequencies, so it may not be what the PU is sending. Is your string balance good acoustically?

Well the acoustic sound is not perfectly balanced and already lacks a bit of G. The Bass Max emphasize the problem.
The Amp is a Schertler Unico that in my opinion reproduces a really balanced and realist sound...

I would work on this with your luthier first. If that is unsuccessful, experiment with other G strings.

Have you tried mounting it in the opposite wing slot? Some people prefer it on the E string side while some say it is better on the G string side.

In the same wing, you can also twist it so the part facing the wing now sees the leg.
On my EUB, the tone changes drastically.

On my bass with the Walter Woods amp and EA Cabinets the difference between the four strings was the same as it is acoustically. No difference, but I no longer use a Realist.

I really think it may have more to do with the bass. The last realist I tried was on an old French bass. The strings were terribly out of balance through the amp. When I checked out the bass acoustically, same thing.

On my bass though, the few months I used a realist, I found the E string to be weaker, and acoustically it is strong.
