I've committed to the distressed metal. Besides the wood on the treble side is less interesting.Maybe just a clear pickguard?

Maybe just a clear pickguard?
Didn't mean to put a clear guard over the distressed metal. I meant instead of to have more natural wood showing. Just a personal thought. All the best.I've thought about a clear pick guard, but the whole point of the pick guard is looks, and I feel that a clear guard over distressed metal will detract from what Jon, and I are going for. I prefer the aged Nickel.
When I typed "over distressed metal," I meant choosing a clear pick guard over distressed metal pick guard. I just don't think it works with the vision Jon, and I share for the instrument. I want the distressed metal.Didn't mean to put a clear guard over the distressed metal. I meant instead of to have more natural wood showing. Just a personal thought. All the best.
I did taper the center lam very slightly 3/4" at the heel to 5/8" at the headstock end.
My eye surely didn't.I thought perhaps my eye could see that!

Those of you who remember my aluminum rimmed fret position markers, I had a quick and dirty jig for cutting the tubing to a consistent 1/16" thickness. I've upgraded the idea to a new and improved version
