Wow the more i search the more i get confused on TB. I just purchased a Korg PX4b from ebay but it sounds like the Tascam or band in box might be the better practice tool. Does anyone have an opinion on what the best practice tools are thats out right now? Any advice would be appreciated Thanks

Band in Box vs. Tascam Bass Trainer

The current version of the Tascam trainer sucks imho. I had the previous digital one (MP-BT1) which was fairly good at some things, though it wasn't what I'd call robust. When that gave out I ordered another one (the GB-10 which replaced the MP-BT1). It took about 4 months to get it from MF, and after about a week I sent it back for a refund. Couldn't hear the bass parts.
Nowadays if you have an iPad you can get the JamUp app for free which does a better job of slowing songs down and playing them in a different key - which was the main thing I'd been using the old Tascam unit for.

i would skip both, get a good looper program (transcribe from seventhstring is great, there are others) and learn tunes by playing along with recorded music.
I have had my Tascam BT MP3 version for 4 years now.
It is the best tool I ever bought for bass playing.

Which model? The CD one or the MP3 one?
On the CD one, you can adjust the CD to bass volume level ratio by hitting the "level" button, using the cursor keys (<,>) to select which "knob" (bass or CD) you want to adjust, and then using the value keys(+ or -) to adjust the levels. You can also use the Bass Enhancement Effect (Also known as BEE) button to either BOOST (increases the bass sound), ENHANCE (Emphasizes the bass), or CUT (reduces the bass) on the CDs.
The input meter at the bottom of the level screen shows the volume level of the signal input of the BASS IN jack controlled by the input wheel at the front of the unit.
Oh, and that "mushiness" when you slow the CD down is normal, nothing you can really do about it.
I am guessing, but I'd bet the MP3 one probably works much the same.
I'm going to throw one more into the mix. Check out the Boss JS-10. It does everything.
How is the sound quality of the Bass Line/Track compared to the Tascam GB10? Im intrigued by the the JS-10, but I really want the bass tracks to stand out more clearly then they do in the Tascam...and opinion/advice in this regard? Tks so much.
