Hello, my fellow bassists. I'm in need of a band to play my wedding next February. I'm getting married to the most amazing woman in the world and the last thing I want to do is to play my own wedding. Well it's the not the last thing I would want to do but definitely not the 1st, 2nd, or even the 3rd thing I want to be doing that day.
Anyway, I was hoping to either gather a couple band names or at least some insight as to who here does wedding gigs.
As far as what I have in mind I'm looking for a very versatile 4 or 5 piece and I'm definitely more interested in a key board player/organist than a horn section. I'm thinking top 40s with some newer tunes more on the side of dance funk and list of 5 or 6 special requests. The keyboard player would also be playing during the ceremony which will last, hopefully, no longer than 25-30 minutes. The reception will start across the hall and go until 11pm. Food, open bar, sufficient breaks, and great people. What do you think?
