Bands that singers ruin...

I do. To me Chris Cornell was the worst of the early 90's Eddie Vedder clones, and he is my entry to this annoying singer thread.

Dude just ruined Soundgarden for me, and turned the band that was Rage into boring, generic radio rock.

... guy needs to see a timeline. Maybe actually check out a Soundgarden song or something. Of all things that ruin bass player's enjoyment of Soundgarden, I'm surprised Ben Shepard (bass player) didn't come up. Chris Cornell has one of the most notable voices in Rock. I see what you're saying with the generic radio rock tho, he really toned down his voice around the last SG album. thru his solo BS especially. But check out King Animal chief. helluva range for a reunion album!

Cheers!

I can't stand Alice in Chains vocals at times, just the harmonies sound like a cat being skinned alive.

Dude, are you friggin' kidding me? You might be the only person on the planet to ever utter these words. Those harmonies are one of the things that sets AIC on the very top of the 90s Seattle groups ( and in the upper eschelon of all rock and roll bands in general).

Obviously opinions are subjective and I certainly respect yours, but my opinion is that Layne Staley had the coolest voice in the history of recorded music and the way he and Cantrell harmonized in 5ths brought out a haunting aspect that is unequaled by anyone.

Plus a billion. Cantrell/Staley harmonies are about as good as it gets.
