Love this tune. Robert Smith used a Bass VI a lot too
while Gallup was on 4.

Been a Cure fan a while before playing guitar then bass and didn't catch the specific darkness of their sound was somewhere due to the massive use of bass.
Even recently I didn't know what a bass IV was.

Here on stage two Precision bass is impressive, I catch one plys bassline while the other is rythm guitar like.

Now I do not have any live video recording of us, but I used to play in a band that used two bass players (I played the brighter sounding bass while the other bass player took care of the more traditional sounding bass).

Coleman had a habit of playing with two complete rhythm sections at the same time. His album Free Jazz featured a double quartet, with Charlie Haden and Scott LaFaro on upright bass.
