Double Bass Barcus berry

Bill Moring had one on his bass at the Aebersold camps, and he sounded great. Then again, Bill would probably sound great with a cheese sandwich as his pickup system...what can you really say when a great player sounds great with any gear?
I got one last year to experiment on my EUB.
It's not too bad, but not great either.
I think there are better alternatives out there, considering the price you'd pay for it, unless you get it second had at a cheap price. (oh, and btw, the "preamp" they sell is not absolutely necessary, and costs an arm and a leg. If your amp had 1 Megohm or better input impedance, it's fine, or you can use a small Fishman unit)
