Bart MK5CBC pickups…worth wiring inner/outer coil options??

Hi fellow bassists

I have a pair of Bartolini MK5CBC pickups arriving shortly which I’ll be installing into my Cort B5 bass (along with a Bart preamp). Now I can do the standard install, or, using a DPDT switch also have the option of inner coil and outer coils.

Has anyone done something similar, and if so, was it worth doing?

That's my default installation of MK6CBC on my late Cort Artisan A6 and MK5CBC on my Ibanez SRF705.

I did that configuration with a pair of Bartolinis and didn't find it worthwhile at all. The difference is subtle at best. Wiring each in parallel worked best for me. I also tried series but that was too much.

I'm the other way: I preferred the standard series wiring. The parallel and single coil were too thin in tone for what I do.

I have one bass that I had wired for inner and outer coil sounds. They will sound rather different in the midrange - they weren't quite my cup of tea, but they might be yours. If you have the pickups, it doesn't hurt to try the idea.
