Has anyone ever heard of this pickup model? Are they even bass pickups?

not totally, there's a distributorship phone number listed at the site and that dude will answer any questions you have about Bart stuff.
The only time I called that bart number I left a message and the guy returned the call within 2 hours.
Personally, I've used the Bart site extensively and their wiring diagrams have bailed me out on a number of occassions. If it's not listed or mentioned it's either old stuff or brand new (but it seems the site was updated within the last 6 months). That Dimarzio flash crap I find useless, can't even get onto the site for whatever reason.
