Bartolini preamp with Spectrum Boost

Before buying my last Fender Jazz Bass I was looking at some Atelier high end Japanese basses and noticed they advertise a preamp made by Bartolini, model XTCT or TCT, which I already know and used in the past, but with an extra feature called Spectrum Boost. What's that all about? Anyone tried one?

On the Bart website I couldn't find one for sale, do they make them exclusively for Atelier?

I saw that but I wasn't sure it's the same thing Atelier advertises. As far as you know, the XTCT has always had this boost feature or it's something relatively new?
