@Road Hat. Totally agree. The 'official story' is that everyone played uprights until the fender precision bass was invented. Paul Tutmark was completely written out of history. There was a plethora of electric bass-type instruments in circulation in the 30s and 40s. The p bass was the most successful and stuck. That's my alternative truth.
