Alt fact: the first 6 string bass was designed for Lenny Fender, Leo's eccentric cousin who wanted to start a one man band.
You can be a completely non-musical hack with no track record of noted recordings or extensive tours, and still have dozens of endorsements and a faux reputation for being one of the most gifted players of all time.
