Bass Amp Help

Hey acually the amp is for a freind but i was wandering if you had any suggestions for him. He is playing in a band with two other guitars and a drummer and he is playing hardcore/ heavy rock music and he needs an amp that would be able to play shows ....he doesn't want to spend alot so he is buying a combo . i dont think a stack is nessesary anyways. He is in the price range of 600-1500 dollars . He plays an ibanez erdogyne

please suggest anything

Ehh... If I know the type of band situation, I doubt many combos will compete in that flavor of music. But you guys can shop around and try out that Ampeg BA600/210 might be strong enough to compete. It really depends on what the other guitarists are cranking, but this might be about right.

ok ha...Well there are two other guitar players and they're playing technical stuff and they both have jsx 212 combos (tube) and they are 120 watts

Would it be alright to get a combo that is over 500W cause we will probably always be micing everything.

Suggest any amps that you can....also what about the Gallien Krueger neo 1001/212 combo?

In my opinion, with that budget, I would go with a head/cab configuration instead of a combo. Then, you can interchange the components (i.e. buy a new head and keep the cab if you want) plus you'll have more options to get the sound you want for the price. With that style of music I'd go with a 4x10, a 6x10, or a 2x15. The guitar amps they are using are gonna suck the bass dry if they crank em up. Don't get too hung up on wattage. My GK 700RB-II through an Ampeg SVT410HE will knock things off of the practice room walls (literally) at 320 watts.
