Bass amp modeling?

I thought about going this route, but with a sansamp BDDI as the preamp. I just wanted something light and portable for gigs. How is it working out for you? I heard mixed reviews about the ZLX15P, mostly that it sounded great but wasn't as powerful as advertised.

There were two main issues for me: other than a traditional bass amp, it is not designed for being driven hard. Clip protection jumps in pretty hard. So, while it delivers power enough for its PA purpose, it may not be sufficient for a bass. Second, fiddling with the controls ob the back is a pain. Apart from that, great speakers.

In the meantime I have switched to a Quilter Bass Block BB802 and a Barefaced Big Baby 2. Still pretty much FRFR, but the way the BB802 runs into overdrive provides enough coloration for me to get a sound I like. I normally don’t use the Zoom’s amp sims anymore. Running the B3n into the effect return should work great I guess.

Will you go for the BoSS 1000 CORE vs an L6 HX? I also saw some bass amp modelinine the ampero pedal not sure how you guys compare all these. The Boss looks quite promising and have a lot of good adjustments compare to older tools.

Plenty of great bass tones in the Stomp. Had the Helix, traded for the XL and some cash. Footprint larger than I wanted to use and I don’t need tons of effects or multi parallel paths etc. Stock cabs are more than adequate but I did get some decent IR’s to use as well. Run IEM’s, high quality buds always in stereo and use a small rumble on stage for the drummer basically. Easy and fast setup. Never going back to heavy amps again
