Looking for an opinion. I posted this question in another forum but it was suggested that it applies to this forum better so here is the question.
I have been looking at combo amps for my bass for a long time. I am not a professional bass player doing this for a living nor am I in a band. ( 40 years of being a guitarist though) This amp would be used around the house and for recording purposes in my home studio. I have been looking at the 100W Fender Rumble, which has always gotten great reviews. For my birthday, my son was nice enough to buy me an amp which was a TC Electronic BG250-112 1x12 amp. He got this amp because the guy at guitar Center told him it was a better amp than the Fender but it also cost 100 bucks more. Personally I have never heard of this amp company before because names like Fender, Ampeg and Orange have dominated the market. The TC has this feature called TonePrint which are affects that you download to the amp through your phone.
It allows your bass to have chorus and flanger and a number of other effects that I have no interest in. In fact if I was looking to have my bass sound like a Fender Strat., I can always run the bass through my guitar pedal board and get the same results.
My decision in the end was to return it and I most likely will go with the Fender 100W Rumble. I hope I did not make a mistake....... I am also a huge fan of Sweetwater. From a financial point of view, any amp I buy through them offers free shipping to my home, no taxes and a free 2 year extended warranty, which a compony like Guitar Center does not offer so it's really a no-brainer which is the better option in my opinion.
If anyone has any thoughts on the above two amps, I would love to hear them because I can always go back and pick up the amp I had. I just personally never heard of them or know anyone that plays with one.
Thanks
