About a 2 years ago, I like many of you started taking serious notice to what I call sub drops, or bass bombs in the music that i was listening to... As a musician myself in a rock and roll worship band I wanted whatever it was that they were doing!!! So i began to look for answers. I have contacted some of the bands that you guys have mentions asking questions. most of them didn't give up much info... for obvious reasons. but 2 years later i don't claim to have the answer but i am willing to share what i know. Okay so the 808 suggestions are correct for the very short bass hits, and are used for accents for most of what i have heard. now the tone that i was looking for that isn't normal was the what i like to call "sub drop" a hit that started higher and dropped off fast to frequencies that cannot be produced by normal instruments. two days ago in my quest i had the crazy idea to google tone generators. I downloaded the hardcore sound generator v 1.2. go to the sweep generator and type in start frequency 80 and end freq. 35 for 3000 milli sec. This is what i was looking for... also another cool tone is start at 55 and go to 35 for 2500 milli sec. these are tones that are used for downbeats mostly (again from what i have heard) Now that you have the wave files.... how do you trigger them??? I use a Roland SPD-S and sample the sounds into the internal memory and trigger them during performance. If you have any more questions you can find my information on this page myspace.com/interfacefl
