I e-mailed Bass Central when I was on the market for a Bongo 5. In the e-mail I included my e-mail addy and phone number.

Less than 30 minutes later Beaver Felton gave me a ring. Not only did he give me an AMAZING price, he was a super guy and we talked on the phone for quite a while.

Id buy from Bass Central any day of the week, and look forward to a trip down there when its time for a 2 pup StingRay 5.

BassCentral is the best bass store in the world bar none. I bought my warwick and my alembic from them and they are great. Beaver is an incredibly cool guy and will answer any question or concern that you have in detail. I will buy all of my future basses from them.

I almost bought my bass from BC. I have a Fender Stu Hamm Urge-II. When I was shopping for it, I wanted a black one with the brown shell pick guard. One of our stores here in the islands had a Stu Hamm, but the color was "Bright Sapphire Metallic", and, as all of you might imagine, the price was a little higher than prices I see online.

During my Internet search, I found that BC's website said they had a Stu in stock, so I gave 'em a call. While I don't remember the guy's name, he was very friendly. He said that the Stu he had was the same "sapphire" color. I told him I wanted black, but he said that would be at least a 6-week wait... if not more! He also said that someone else from Hawaii had called that very same day asking about the Stu. The guy even dropped his asking price by $100, which made things rather tempting... I told him I'd have to think about it. I later found a black Stu Hamm on Musician's Friend's website... apparently their last one at the time. While I paid more for it than the offer from BC, I at least got what I wanted, and that is ultimately the most important point... IMO.

So... having said all this, I would have to say that Bass Central would've been, and most likely still is, a very good place to do business.

Now... if only zZounds.com will hurry up and get to the point with Fender where they can start selling Fender's high-end basses... I say this, because zZounds pays shipping to Hawaii. :hyper: I keep my fingers crossed that their accountants never wake-up to this fact! ;)

I bought my Dingwall through BC. Grasshopper was great to deal with...to the point where he even made follow up calls to make sure I was happy after the fact. I did talk to Perry, who quoted me a different price to GH, and said there was no way he could come close to the deal that GH offered me. He didn't strike me as one I could have much of a working relationship with. So I emailed Grasshopper back, and he gave me his deal. :) Had some nice non related discussions w/Grasshopper, who knows his stuff and has interesting things to say about basses and exotic woods.

The bass was decently packed, but UPS is never my first choice of shipping, and they didn't treat the box great, and got a bogus signature to leave the bass on my doorstep unattended.

Pricing wise, they were decent too. They couldn't match the pricing that BassNW offered me, but they made it up by adding free shipping and extra strings (a big deal for the Dingwall, which needs custom strings). Even so, the bass was more than $500 below 'list price'.

Beaver, Grasshopper, Gard (now with Roscoe)...these guys are true professionals all the way. Great prices, service...the works. I actually called the shop one time on a Saturday afternoon and got the answering machine, didn't leave a message. Beaver calls me at home about 6 p.m that evening by getting my caller ID to follow up with me. Now that's a concerned salesperson. I would not hesitate to buy from them again if I get in the market for another bass. Period.

I bought a bass from there once, and was very happy with the service. More recently however, one of the salesmen was a bit rude after I asked whether they had a couple of basses that I saw used on their website. I sent an email off expressing distaste for the conversation. Beaver emailed me back and offered me a deal for the trouble, and was investigating who the culprit might have been. I'm glad he runs a tight ship, because if he didn't, it'd be just another GC. Overall though, I'd recommend them above everyone else.

I bought a few basses from them and everyone I dealt with was helpful, knowledgeable and just plain great. My only beef with them is their website. Many times I've called them up, interested in an instrument, only to find out that it was sold even though it's been on and continues to be on the website for weeks (well then take it off the site..)
