Bass Crack

Pass. The origin of the crack appears to be in line with the screw holding the tuning machine. It has been turned too tight, or something has created the pressure there that started the crack. Not sure I would trust a repair unless the screw could be relocated....which may mean you won't have good tuner alignment or positioning.

I wouldn't want it regardless of price or discount.

Also notice the dowel just next to the E tuning machine (between E & A) in the first photo. Something else funky going on there. Maybe tuners are replacements or the headstock was drilled incorrectly at some time. Nevertheless, it's not going to get better.

Still pass!!

Wow good eye, never even noticed that. Could that have been a means of stopping the crack on the other side of the machine?

that's how deals are done these days. cinch the deal first and then either-
-report things like this after the fact.
-hope buyer doesn't notice little things about the bass and then if he does, offer a discount.
-in both cases, it sucks.

As if he wouldn't have seen that before now; it stares you in face while you are playing. If you buy it, you are probably feeding straight into his plan for selling the damaged bass.

I wouldn't buy it because the guy doesn't seem honest.

I think that he knew it was there and hoped that you would be so anxious to get it that you would accept it at the end.

I also saw the dowel, but it is not on the front. Interesting, eh?

I would take it for $100 off and put some of Stew-Mac's thin super glue in there and clamp it and be happy.
