Double Bass Bass Cub BG-100 - Anyone tried?

Hi,
On the Phil Jones web pages about this amp, you may find a one-page review of the amp from a magazine. This can help to give a first impression.
I am also very interested by this amp, but one point would make me hesitate a bit (perhaps some Phil Jones people get a look on this forum and may pick up the information....):
It's the lacking possiblity to extend the amps by normal, passive external speakers (including an option to keep or to switch off the internal 2*5" combo depending on the possible minimum impedance load). I think a 100W power amp will deliver enough power to do so and to get more flexibility for small gigs.
And regarding the suggested powered speaker cabinet (6*5"), it could be possible that some may prefer a 4*5", whereas others may need a 8*5" or a 10*5"...
So, I believe that a future version offering additionally a passive output and switchable internal speaker would be just amazing.

FYI, been using the Phil Jones Bass Cub for smaller rooms and it is great. Very natural and seems to add presence to the real sound of my bass.
Stan, what are the group configurations you are playing in? I have been looking at the Cub or a Genz Benz shuttle combo. I play in mostly acoustic groups with little to no drums. Also play in a jazz ensemble that is drums, piano, horns. I have been audible so far but would like to pick up an amp that will help boost the bass a bit if need be. Also, no car so light weight and easy transport is key.

Been using it mostly for sax/guitar/bass trios for small club/restaurant gigs and private corp. dinners/receptions. Last Friday used it for a quartet with sax/piano/bass plus drums w/ mostly brushes and was quite pleased as well.
