bass delay...

I'm looking for a delay pedal for my bass, cheap but good, any suggestions??

I've got a Boss DD-3 and a Danelectro FAB echo... Both sound very good on bass. The FAB Echo isn't very flexible, but it gets the job done, and it's only $15 new.

The Boss DD-3 I got used for about $60, very flexible and sounds very good. I'd reccomend the Boss.

dd3 is nice. especially when modded by robert keely.

i've heard great things about the line 6 echo park and the danelectro dan-echo (which is pretty cheap). i've got a Locobox analog delay i picked up for cheap on ebay. i love it! great warm analog sound.

i'd say: dd3 for digital delay, dan-echo for analog delay.

I've been happy with the Ibanez DE-7 in the past, unfortunately no tap tempo feature.

The Guyatone MD-3 is the most accurate and best sounding delay I have heard and the Ibanez DE-7 is the smoothest and most organic. I wouldn't call either of them "full featured" though. Neither have tap tempo or a reverse mode, if that's important to you. I'm sure that there are better delay pedals out there, but not anywhere near the price of either of these. Good luck.

Wasabi forward and reverse delay has a tap tempo and a reverse feature. I think I saw it on musicians friend for about 130 USD.

Being a fan of Rocktron, I was looking over this earlier... does anyone have clips of a slapback delay on bass? I've never heard it before.

+1. The DD-3 is probably your best bet for the money as well as most versatile.

I don't think that there are speceifcally bass or guitar specific delays -- any modern delay pedal should be fine with bass.

Im not sure just how much actuall delay on the notes you want but it really isnt limited to just slapback. I really enjoy it. I found it much better sounding then the boss delays, the DD20 aside. There are a few others I checked out but the Rocktron did it for me. And! Its pretty dang cheap!

+1 on the DD20...awesome pedal, very flexible! Its prob a bit more than what most bassists need....but nice to have options i guess!

if you have a delay (any delay), set the delay time pretty short (20ms?)... and set it to repeat only once. voila! slapback!

But, if you just don't want to spend this much (although a used one really isn 't THAT much), give a serious look at the Guyatone MD-3. Pretty basic delay (no reverse), but it really sounds excellent.

The character of that pedal when it self-oscillates is awesome, too. Some delays hiccup and twitch when you change the controls when it is self-oscillating, but the MD-3 stays smooth and clear. It's the one to beat, IMO.
