Bass effect on Hysteria by Muse

Hey!

I've heard that Chris Wolstenhome, bass player with Muse, uses a lot of effects and I'm wondering what effect he uses on Hysteria? Obviously it'd be great to find out without having to spend a load of money on different pedals just to try out!

I know he uses a Big Muff a lot and was wondering if that's what he uses on this song? Also, if I was to buy a Big Muff is it best to get the bass version or ust the normal version? Cheers.

Like KarateKid said, there's heaps out there, just search for it. There are also pics of his (very impressive) rack mounted setup of effects and the like.

You'll get closer to the sound with a normal Big Muff, but you'll lose low end. The Bass Big Muff will have no low end issues, but doesn't have a very 'hysteria-esque' sound.

He doesn't use effects ever. He has a bunch of cabs with blown speakers specifically for Hysteria.

lol yea i think you will find that someone on talkbass actually ASKED Chris exactly what settings/pedals he uses on that song. And yes....it really should be a sticky.

Everyone knows he is using a Behringer BDI21 and a Digitech Grunge.
