Hi all,
I'm sorry if similar questions already exist. I currently have a carvin B2000 amp and running a carvin BRX 410 (4 ohm). I am wanting to add another cabinet and am not sure what to go with. My initial thought was to add the carvin 118, however several people have told me too add another 410. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Most people will just tell you to get a matching 410. There is some resistance to mixing driver sizes, for reasons I'm not qualified to talk about. If I were you and I could be bothered schleping it around, I would just go for the matching 410.

Be sure that amp is safe to operate below 4 ohms.
One reason against mixing drivers in a system is power handling. For example, a 4x10 cab splits whatever power coming in by four speakers. Marrying that with a single driver cab means that the same power that the 4x10 divides up will go into one driver, not four. This could be too much for some cabs. Another is surface area. A single driver cab like an 18 is better than a 15, but still less than four 10's. The 4x10 will likely seem louder, and the other cab may be drowned out. This makes the first example I mentioned hard to discern, thus creating a chance of blowing the single driver cab. There is another reason matching driver configurations is recommended, but I'm not smart enough to explain it. It has to do with phase and comb filtering. Bit of a hot-button topic. The main thing is use what sounds good to you; but keep in mind that if you like what your 4x10 has to offer, why not just double up instead of taking chances?

most carvins can run 2 ohms I'm not 100% sure the b2000 is one of them check if you can. You really don't want to take the ohms too low if you amp can't take it. that's a good way to fry your amp.

Yes, that is correct, the b2000 can go to 2 ohms. Really appreciate the input from everyone
