Bass guitars are really ugly.

I promise I'm not trying to troll you guys. I've made posts here before, I've contributed to TB appropriately, and this is the way I genuinely feel.

There is no comparison. It's something that's an eye-sore versus something breath-taking. One day, if I'm ever fabulously wealthy enough, I want to make a bass out of a Telecaster or Les Paul body.

I know I shouldn't respond to blatant trolling attempts, but those guitars look like rubbish to me. I much prefer the look of the basses.

Am I the only one that finds most basses horrendously ugly? All these basses that people post here as being beautiful I find to be either really gaudy or lame. Take the colors a Fender P-Bass Special/Delixe come in for example. Red with gold pickguard? Ewww.

I own a P-bass and a Stingray. P-basses have ok looks but are far from what I would call beautiful. I think my Stingray is kinda ugly but I still love it to death.

It's strange because I find pretty much all guitars look amazing while basses look mediocre to lame. Why can't basses look as good as guitars?

Whoa!! You can't even get on board with a Gibson Thunderbird?? Those things are serious eye candy for me personally.. And you can't find a stock Fender Telecaster bass you don't even love a little bit? Kinda hard to please eh??

FYI: G&L makes an ASAT Bass that IS the Tele body shape... and Gibson makes a Les Paul bass.

These do not look the same.

You got me on that Les Paul bass. It may quite possibly be my next bass. It depends on how it feels though, as with my Stingray I'll take feel and sound over looks anyday.

I do like the look of T-birds quite a lot, actually. I never said I don't like the looks of ALL basses, just most. Stop putting words in my mouth, people.
