Just playing a song live is great fun. Doing a cabaret show soon with so much going on in it... The best bit really is when you just feel the song and start playing- not exactly what that broadway tune is- but just right so it fits.
1.) GROOVIN! 
2.) Looking at my 1997 Fender in 2016 and seeing a mint condition bass!

For me; woodshedding a setlist for a gig (subbing) and absolutely kicking butt on stage. Oh what a feeling!
For me it is being where I am gear wise.
2 G&L 2500s one fretless , 2 Genz Benz bass rigs , 1 Violin bass , two racks of led lights a powered pa with a Yamaha mixer.
And a gigin band

Tuning up a new build and plugging it in to hear it's voice for the first time, then spending some time to take in the nuances of how each note up and down the fretboard/fingerboard speaks, sustains, and decays. If the bass has more than one pickups, listening to the tonal differences while adjusting from the neck solo thru blended thru bridge solo. If the bass has a preamp, discovering how the preamp refines the tonality thru its range on this specific bass.
It's so easy to forget to be intentional and take time out and savor this first contact experience with a new instrument, to listen and not just hear what the instrument has to offer, and to add to the sonic palette library of how the different 'ingredients' come together into a unique musical voice.

My Bass Happiness is when I get to plug into my 3 Genzler Bass Arrays and Magellan 800 stack with wither my 2016 Ibanez Prestige 5005 or my Ibanez Premium BTB1605DTF fully modified.
Oh yeah; strings AND setup.
