Bass head//help

Hey,
i have a 250 whatt rms bass cab that i bought but i wanna buy a decent bass head around 200-300 and also does the head have too match the same whattage as the cab?

1st you have to specify if your cabinet is 8 ohms or 4 ohms
heads will generally put out about twice the wattage at 4 ohms than they will at 8 ohms
the head doesnt have to put out exactly the same watage that your cabinet can handle, a head that can put out 300 or 400 watts at whatever impedance (ohms) your cabinet is should be ok as long as you dont turn it up all the way, i woulnt get anything too much under 200 watts as you'll probably be dissapointed in the volume
with your budget i would look into used heads

Speakers are 8 Omz all 10 inch speakers, i saw a bass head that was 50 whatts for about 200, but it makes a big difference in sound?

I've heard many people say to get about a head that will put out twice as many watts than your cab is rated. I would say something that puts out 200-500watts would work fine.

ugh hopefully i can find something used thats good or i save money which i have problems doing .... double you say eh?

you should be able to get a used head that will give you at least 200 watts for 300 bucks if you look around - 50 watts wont cut it very far
without going into a long discussion, i'll say that you generally need 4 times the wattage of a guitar player to compete with them - if your pal plays thru a 50 watt 1x12 combo amp and you have a 50 watt head, you might as well hum as loud as you can
