Bass height versus Age

I'm 6'4 and the strap on my main bass is as long as possible, but it only reaches my stomach. The strap on my backup lets the body rest against my thigh, much more comfortable.

This is the main advantage of the low-sling bass: both wrists can remain straight.

The word slacks was chosen with deliberation, so it is nice to see my attention to detail is appreciated.

As to high-waisted slacks on old men, curiosity led me to do some research. Seems many old men tend to not have much buttock and thus they pull their pantalones up over their bellies in hopes of keeping them in place.

The thing is, that's true IF your thumb is going to creep over the neck in a clutching posture. As soon as you put the thumb behind the neck which does free the fingers to move about the fretboard you're instantly putting a sharp bend in the wrist. I'm not preaching, so cut me some slack. One can play anyway one wants. It is only a consideration if you later want free access to the fingerboard.

Or do arpeggiated chords.
Or sweeps.

I've been playing about 35 years. My bass has ever-so-slowly risen over the years until now I hang it at the same height where it is when I sit. My belt buckle doesn't show under the bass, but it's close.
