Bass is too quiet for recording through interface to pc, please help ;c

Yeah, I was wondering if that might explain why the passive Les Paul worked but not the active bass.

(But even if it's a TRS cable, shouldn't the connector at the interface end short together the other two connectors and give you the same result as if you used a TS cable? I don't know how these things work...).

good catch, it could be the TRS cable. When you plug the cable into the bass slowly, does it click into place twice? If so, push it in only until the first "click" (don't push it in all the way). That MIGHT do the trick. Otherwise, get an unbalanced instrument cable.

of course this may do nothing, your bass might just be broken... ;)

Has anyone suggested checking out your Windows10 settings? A real simple first step is to right click on the icon of a speaker in your task bar and then click on, "Trouble shoot sound problems". Might not be anything wrong with your settings since you can get your guitar to work, but it there is a computer sound problem, nothing you do with your bass, cords, or interface is going to fix it. May as well run those diagnostics and check it out.

Also check to be sure you have "line level" (INST) selected on your Scarlett interface for your bass input. If you have mic level selected it would be very hard to hear since line level is about 1,000 hotter (1.0 volt) than mic level (.001 volt). I believe you have to push in the button next to the connector to get the INST to light up. If the INST is not lit on the input you are using, you have it set for mic level. Push in the button to light up INST and put it into line level mode. That will make a huge difference if you haven't done so already.

Rookie question: What happens if you plug a TRS (stereo) cable between your bass and amp?
"It depends on what the amp manufacturer uses the ring terminal for.

For example, I always use a TRS input jack and float the ring terminal, this makes it pretty universal, but some amp designers use the ring terminal for other functions, or to control things inside the amp by telling the circuitry that something has been plugged into the input jack. This is done when the tip switch is being used for some other internal function."
