Bass lines that almost everybody plays wrong...

The bass line from the Spark Mandrill level, in Mega Man X: YouTube - Mega Man X OST, T16: Spark Mandrill Stage (Electromagnetic Power Plant)
Now, you can clearly hear the Iron Maiden inspiration in this one. And as a result, pretty much every video game cover band out there that does cover it, has their bassist playing the main riff as that classic Steve Harris three-note gallop (think "The Trooper").
Admittedly, I would play it like that too, because I lack the chops to play it the way it was written -- that is, as a seven-note gallop. I think I've only ever heard one version that did it right, and I can't even remember which it was. ^.^U
Still, even simplified, that bass line kicks ass (the entire soundtrack does, really -- very few games manage to have classic NWOBHM tunes, proggish synths and Marcus-style fusion slap and make it work). \m/

not that it has ever happened to me but, if some "musician" ever said "you didn't play that part right,it supposed to be blah blah....." I just say "so what, close enough for rock-n-roll and I got your money"...it usually shuts them up pretty quick..
When I played this tune I used to double the horn part along with the guitarist.
