Double Bass Bass Max on a 1/2 size bridge

So I was wondering if there is anything you can do about evening out the sound on a 1/2 size bridge. My bridge isn't that much smaller than a 3/4 in the wing, but I didn't think it would be so drastic, the D and G have a nice woody sound but the A has a bit of bass overload, but the E nearly blows out my amp. Anyone ever run into this? Anyone ever solve this?

I did a search and there are a bunch of comparisons and 3/4 questions but never really anything a 1/2 sized basses.

Did you try an Underwood pickup?
(shadow has a very similar model)
Just wondering if you tried other brands.

No, I use the bass max on my other bass, I'm trying it on the G side this afternoon to see if that makes a difference.

Another thing to take into consideration:
The Bass Max actually has *two* transducers inside.
One senses the wing, the other the bridge leg.
Depending on how they are wired, it can result in phase cancellations depending on the bridge and whole vibrating structure.
You may also try to reverse it on the same bridge side, or to move it so it's parallel to the bridge instead of perpendicular.
Try a few things.

I've got good results with the single element Shadow (SH951).
That's also why some people only use one element with their Underwood.

Someone was selling a Revolution solo I (first generation) for cheap recently on the Classifieds. It's worth looking at. Then again, reversing it in the wing makes a huge difference. (although in this case I think it has only one piezo element inside)

so I swapped it to the G side, works perfect now, very even, I just think I need a pre-amp to balance it out for my amp, its a bit intense, any recommendations?
