Double Bass bass max string noise problem

so i have a full carved bass, bass max p/u, a fishman pro plat. pre, and a swr amp... on three out of the four strings it sounds awesome, im very happy with my sound on these strings. but on the a string i hear alot of string noise (what im calling string noise is the sound that you would get through the p/u if you muted the string and plucked it). the noise on that string actually overpowers the tone of the note and i have not been succesful in eqing it out with either my pre or the 6 bands of semi-parametric eq on my amp, and i have also tried flipping the bass max so that either side is up. the only thing that i have not tried yet is switching the p/u to underneath the g string. does anybody have any suggestions?

acoustically i havent noticed a difference yet, of course that doesnt mean that it hasnt gone bad and its only showing through the pickup so far... i also havent noticed very much of a difference while playing arco through my pickup... i am hoping to purchase new strings soon so (that is assuming i can stop having troubles with my 20 year old truck), so if thats the case i guess i will find out then...
