For about an hour, about 20 years ago, I Swore I was gonna own one of those big, badass balalalikas...

then the feeling went away...

Lol! I love the look of the balalaikas.
However, try fitting that puppy into the overhead bin on an airplane! :roflmao:

A friend of mine used to play one of these in his school folk orchestra. He says at the first rehearsal the BL gave him a giant rubber pick cuz it was the only way to extract any sound from the beast.

Picture trying to schlep one of those on a bus or subway, or even a moderately busy sidewalk. Wow!

Yeah, a little awkward, but probably no more of a pain in the ass than an upright.

The MiG-21 was a light plane that could swiftly gain height. This feature helped the fighter to evade the F-4’s missiles during the Vietnam War. It was dubbed the “balalaika” - after the Russian traditional musical instrument - due to the resemblance of the plane’s shape to it. MiG-21s are still in service in some countries.
