AFAIR famous Dutch soccer player Ruud Gullit also played bass in a reggae band Revelation Time.

You have inspired me. I have a sawed off Yamaha bass that I picked up dirt cheap as a "silent practice bass." I steampunked a live pickup onto it, but haven't progressed further. The original plan was a "steampunk stick bass."
All I need is an appropriate box. I used a cat food box as "proof of concept." I like the idea of the Quija Board box, if the dimensions are right, and can still perhaps steampunk it up.
