Hey y'all!

Just wanted to share this demo clip of my pedal, Awkward Mustache, that my friend Zach at Fuzzed Drones recently posted. He did a great job showcasing how it sounds on bass (timestamp: 8:30) with some great QOTSA inspired tones.

What's your favorite Muff on bass? BBM? Grey Stache? Bluebeard? Something else?

Looks good but, is there a reason for using that mini pcb for the switch? I've seen them in many recent pedals. Once the switch goes faulty -which they do- it's impossible to repair it by yourself and you have to send the pedal to the other part of the world for what could be a simple fix with a normal 3pdt. In this pedal everything looks easy to replace, except for that switch.

Wouldn't you just unsolder the switch from the PCB and solder a new one in? Adding a PCB shouldn't make it harder to repair, it should make it easier.

Thanks for asking, man. It's mostly an aesthetic choice, to be perfectly honest. I use the nicer green Gorva soft-click switches that are quite a bit more reliable, ime, than the standard "black box" hard click switches. I've only had one switch fail so far and am happy to replace them free of charge for customers for the cost of shipping them to me -- I warranty all of my pedals. If the switch failed and it needed to be replaced on tour or something, though, it definitely wouldn't be impossible for somebody to wire up a 3pdt without the PCB as long as they had a little circuit knowledge.

Coming from the diy side Breakout PCB for 3pdt switches are hardly new or unusual, and far far easier to do a replacement if switch fails (hint, you replace the 20¢ PCB too) so the thread derailment in that seems wierd.

why the name? Would be my first question. What kind of drive? Thr second

And then why the perf/ p2p layout mix might be question number 8 ?

The name is a play on the long lineage of Big Muff variants with hair themed names — Grey Stache, Bluebeard, Peach Fuzz, etc.

It's a muff-style fuzz.

I enjoy building on stripboard and using a hybrid P2P build style helps to eliminate extraneous wires.
