Hello, everyone.

We've all heard of New Year's Resolutions, I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone out there has any Resolutions regarding bass playing/technique/goals.

Mine are to get my slap playing back up and beyond where it used to be, to work on more R&B, Motown style bass with my fretless flatwound strung Ric and to push my own boundaries 'till there aren't any.

So, what say you?

Happy New Year to you all!

Eric.

My new years resolution this year actually was to practice my new syllabus I made up for myself it should be an overall routine of exactly two hours a day if it works out right

it's pretty heavy on sight reading and basic repetitive technique exercises, reading and writing and huge on this years learn list,

here's to one resolution I'm sure to keep, all you have to do is keep it up a week or two and then it just becomes a routine habit, and it's extremely hard to break habits

I need to learn how to groove again. The other day, I was listening to a CD I played on 11 years ago, and thinking I was a much better player back then. Granted, I was playing a lot more at the time, but I seem to have lost a basic understanding of how to consistently lock in. I just started playing in a band with a really good drummer, so I'm hoping that'll help.

Happy New Years, TB!

My resolution is to learn to pluck each and every single note without losing any speed. No hammer-ons in '09.

And, to buy my first Alembic, finally.

As someone who also owns a Ric fretless I have to say popping and slapping a Ric fretless with flats is no mean feat. I mean, I guess you can do it but... talk about pushing water uphill.

Honestly, after playing for 28 years, I would like to finally sit down and start tearing apeart my playing style to improve my technique. I would like to learn more intricut structures and be able to play Dorian or Aeolian when needed.

No, I wasn't going to pop and slap my Ric. That's reserved for my Parker, I'll be Motowning it on the Ric.:)
