Bass Nightmare

I had a nightmare about a bass I used to own. I dreamed that I was at church with a natural finish ash body, maple fingerboard Stingray 5 I used to have. I used the restroom and when I came out, the bass had been destroyed. A chunk of the body was missing. The pickup was gone and knobs from the pots were gone. The lower horn was gone and it had no strings.

There were lots of kids around and I suspected they did it, but I was mad, and I was hoping an adult did it, so I could fight the culprit. Later, I was in the church sanctuary and all I was wearing was underwear and a towel. I was angry and rude to everybody although I was largely being. Ignored.

As goofy as it was, the dream felt real. It was nice to realize it was a nightmare. I guess a Freudian analyst would have quite a lot to tell me.

I have read that being naked in public dreams mean your sub-conscious wants to reveal your fraudulent self to the world. Ok I made that up. But I can see why it might be an explanation, what with you posting this in the BASS forum; this is OFF TOPIC all day long….fraud! Good day to you sir, I say good day.

It means that StingRay5 Special at your local store is your retirement bass.
Stop trying to fight it.
You wanted to fight, you ended up naked…... really that means you want to slap that bass and praise the Lord so uninhabited like King David until your clothes fall off!!! ☺️

Go get that bass !!!

Your analysis makes more sense than anything else I can think of.👍🏿

My bass nightmare is this: I am starting to play in front of audience, and bass neck goes all "wiener" on me! It's bendy and rubbery, and I'm trying to get it straight, but it won't stay that way...
Same here, Freudian psychoanalyst could write essay on this.

Well I guess it could get all hard and raise the pitch an octave. At least you could play piccolo bass.😂

My bass-related nightmares are rather pedestrian: I’m usually getting ready to go onstage and I cannot find my bass. Or my rig won’t power up.

But so far I haven’t had a bass-related dream that also involved being naked. If that ever happens, I hope I’m wearing the bass lower than I usually do.

This is one of those threads that I want to respond but don't necessarily want any notifications when it is updated. (as opposed to the ones I do want to hear from that don't work)

I had a Peavey Millenium with a neck so flexy you could see it moving as you played. In my dream the neck would fold over completely. I had to hold it
straight to keep playing. . No pitch changes, just uncooperative folding over.

The only naked dream is the one where I happened to be in strip joint. Not hard to see where the idea came from.

I also had a Peavey with wobbly neck, but it was Cirrus BXP 5. I always had hex key in the gig bag and had to tweak it with every change of weather :)
I'll take that simple explanation for my weird nightmare, and not some unconscious male fear of different wobbliness 😲

I've only had one bass-related nightmare that I can recall; I was sitting amongst a band with a hand-notated bass score I'd never seen before in front me, and about 5sec later they kicked off the song and I realized I was with Steely Dan (the real deal) and the fully notated chart was Peg. I looked up and Will Lee (a notoriously good reader) was playing aux percussion and looking at me in anticipation of *something*. I don't know what that dream meant, but I woke up in a cold sweat.

I was not in my underwear, as far as I recall, but that would've been the least of my concerns in that situation.

Will Lee has done a lot of sessions as a vocalist, you have to be a solid pro to just get on with the chart in a situation like that and not worry about him looking over your shoulder.

That is a cool dream.

You just reminded me of another non bass dream. In it I am seated with Pete Townshend and he is handing me a guitar. I am thinking,
theres no way I am going to play guitar in front of Pete Townshend.

Although that was years ago and now I just might do it.
